As an experienced Automotive Technician specializing in diagnostics and repair, you will be responsible for performing advanced diagnostics using OEM and aftermarket scan tools. You will troubleshoot and repair complex electrical, electronic, and computer-controlled systems, as well as diagnose and resolve drivability, performance, and emissions-related issues. Your expertise will be crucial in interpreting diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), live data, and wiring diagrams, as well as performing module programming, coding, and recalibrations (e.g., ECM, TCM, ADAS sensors). Additionally, you will conduct hybrid/electric vehicle (EV) system diagnostics and repairs, if applicable. Your technical prowess will be demonstrated through your ability to stay updated on emerging automotive technologies such as EVs, autonomous features, and telematics. You will diligently follow manufacturer technical service bulletins (TSBs) and repair procedures, and when necessary, perform engine/transmission rebuilds. It is imperative that you handle high-voltage systems safely, especially if you are certified to do so. In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will provide exceptional customer and team support by clearly communicating diagnostic findings and repair recommendations to service advisors and customers. Your role will also involve mentoring junior technicians and maintaining accurate repair logs and documentation. Ensuring the smooth operations of the shop is another crucial aspect of your job. You will maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to OEM and industry safety standards. Utilizing warranty and labor time guides effectively will be part of your daily routine. To qualify for this position, you must hold a Diagnostic Level 4 Certification and have at least 7 years of experience in automotive diagnostics and repair. Your technical skills should include expert-level knowledge of CAN bus systems, oscilloscopes, and multimeters, proficiency in OEM diagnostic software (e.g., Ford IDS, GM MDI, Toyota Techstream), and experience with ADAS calibrations (e.g., radar, cameras, lane-keep assist). Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and teamwork are essential soft skills required for this role. An Automotive Technology degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
