What&aposs the role As a Sr. Principal Architect at HERE, you will play a pivotal role in enabling customer success through high-quality, effective technical partnerships. You will be responsible for designing and validating robust, scalable system architectures that support the creation, maintenance, and utilization of HEREs map products. Your work will involve developing clear, deliberate, and consistent architectural designs, validated through prototypes and proof-of-concepts (PoCs). You will collaborate across technical and non-technical teams, ensuring that architectural decisions are well-documented and effectively communicated. This role requires a pragmatic, hands-on approach, a strong analytical mindset, and a solid theoretical foundation. A background in distributed systems, data modelling, and geospatial applications is essential for success. You Will Also Design and deliver end-to-end system integration architectures, including data models, interoperability strategies, and content interfaces. Produce clear, formal documentation of architectural proposals and decisions. Collaborate with peers across architecture, engineering, product, sales, and customer teams to provide a comprehensive view of systems and solutions. Work closely with product engineering teams to incorporate external feedback into product planning and development. Provide technical leadership and mentorship on mission-critical topics across organizational boundaries. Stay current with relevant technologies, tools, and industry trends, and continuously seek to expand your knowledge. Who are you You Are a Technical Leader With The Following Strong foundation in computer science and software engineering; a degree in Computer Science or a related field is highly preferred. 12+ years of experience working with complex software systems in various technical roles. Proven experience in technical architecture or engineering leadership positions. Proficient in systems programming with expertise in at least one JVM-based language (e.g., Java, Scala, Kotlin). Hands-on experience with big data and distributed processing technologies such as Spark, Trino, Ray, Parquet, Delta Lake, and Apache Iceberg. Familiarity with GIS technologies, location-based services, and digital mapping. Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences. You are a skilled GIS Engineer with experience in Telecom, Land-Base, and Utility Projects. Your role involves utilizing ArcMap, QGIS, and AutoCAD for GIS data processing and analysis. You will capture and analyze data from various sources, including scanned images and satellite imageries. Additionally, you will perform GIS-based conversions, manage spatial data efficiently, and ensure accuracy and consistency in GIS layers and datasets. Collaboration with project teams to provide GIS-based solutions for engineering and mapping needs is a key responsibility. You will be required to travel to project sites for field data collection and verification. The ideal candidate will have a Diploma / B. Tech or Masters Graduates in any Technical field along with 3 to 5 years of experience in Telecom, Land Base, and Utility Projects. Proficiency in ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and QGIS, as well as strong experience in GIS-based tools, data conversion applications, and satellite imagery processing is essential for this role. Role & responsibilities Project Planning & Execution Define project scope, timelines, and deliverables for LiDAR and GIS projects. Develop and manage detailed project plans, ensuring milestone tracking and adherence to deadlines. Coordinate with internal teams (LiDAR processing, GIS analysts, QA/QC, software, and support) for smooth execution. Manage and mitigate project risks, dependencies, and resource allocation. Technical & Process Oversight Understand client specifications related to LiDAR classification, feature extraction, topology correction, and GIS data accuracy. Ensure adherence to data quality standards for outputs such as poles, stays, catenaries, topologies, and spatial accuracy. Validate final deliverables before release and ensure project handovers to QA or release teams are complete. Client & Stakeholder Communication Act as the primary point of contact for clients during project execution. Provide regular updates through emails, dashboards, and project calls. Handle client queries, feedback, escalations, and change requests efficiently. Team Leadership & Collaboration Guide and support team leads (LiDAR, GIS, QA) on daily targets and quality standards. Monitor team productivity, performance, and training needs. Foster a collaborative and accountable team culture. Reporting & Documentation Maintain project dashboards, trackers, and documentation. Submit regular status reports to senior management and flag delays or issues early. Contribute to process improvement and knowledge-sharing initiatives. Preferred candidate profile Bachelor's or Masters in Geomatics, GIS, Remote Sensing, Civil Engineering, or related fields. Experience: 6–8 years of experience in LiDAR and GIS project execution, with at least 2 years in a project management or team lead role. Technical Skills: Proficiency in LiDAR processing tools (e.g., TerraScan, Global Mapper, or client-specific tools) Knowledge of GIS platforms (ArcGIS, QGIS) and spatial data formats Familiarity with classification codes, topology rules, and mapping standards Soft Skills: Strong communication and coordination skills Problem-solving and decision-making ability Proactive and detail-oriented approach Ability to lead cross-functional teams and work under pressure
