About the Role
Cloud Security Engineer
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive security assessments and risk analyses to identify vulnerabilities, threats, and potential security gaps within cloud environments.
- Develop, review, and maintain cloud security policies, standards, and procedures to mitigate risks and safeguard sensitive data.
- Provide expert guidance to development and operations teams on secure cloud deployment and configuration practices.
- Implement and manage security controls, monitoring solutions, and automation tools to detect, investigate, and respond to security incidents in real time.
- Stay up to date on emerging cyber threats, cloud vulnerabilities, and evolving security technologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define cloud security requirements, priorities, and compliance objectives.
- Participate in internal and external security audits, compliance checks, and assessments to ensure adherence to industry and regulatory standards.
- Demonstrate hands-on experience with
AWS
and/or Azure
cloud environments.
Required Skills
- Strong experience in cloud security architecture
- Expertise in IAM, network security, and cloud-native security tools
- Proficiency with SIEM, threat detection, and incident response
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, SOC2, NIST, PCI-DSS)
- Experience with DevSecOps practices and automation
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Required Skills
1. Cloud Security Expertise
- Strong knowledge of
AWS
and/or Azure
security services - Experience with cloud-native security tools (e.g., AWS GuardDuty, Security Hub, Azure Security Center, Sentinel)
- Understanding of shared responsibility models for different cloud providers
2. Security Architecture & Design
- Ability to design secure cloud architectures
- Knowledge of network security concepts (VPC, subnets, firewalls, routing, VPN, Zero Trust)
3. Risk Assessment & Compliance
- Experience conducting threat modeling, risk assessments, and vulnerability assessments
- Familiarity with compliance standards such as
ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST, GDPR, PCI-DSS
4. Identity & Access Management (IAM)
- Strong understanding of IAM principles
- Hands-on experience with RBAC, MFA, key management (KMS), secrets management
5. Security Tools & Monitoring
- Experience with SIEM tools (Azure Sentinel, Splunk, QRadar)
- Hands-on with security monitoring, alerting, and incident response automation
6. DevSecOps & Automation
- Knowledge of DevSecOps practices
- Experience integrating security into CI/CD pipelines
- Scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
7. Incident Response
- Ability to investigate cloud security incidents
- Knowledge of logging, forensics, and remediation in cloud environments
8. Policies & Governance
- Experience drafting cloud security policies, standards, and procedures
- Strong understanding of governance frameworks
9. Soft Skills
- Strong communication & documentation skills
- Ability to collaborate with development, operations, and leadership teams
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities
10. Certifications (Preferred but not mandatory)
AWS Security Specialty
Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500)
CompTIA Security+
