Role: AS400 Cobol Developer

Experience: 2 to 8 Years

Location: Bangalore (Manyata Tech Park) & Pune (GERA Commerzone, Kharadi)

Work Mode: hybrid (2 days office+ 3 days WFH)

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the development, testing, and maintenance of COBOL applications on the AS400 platform.
• Collaborate with senior developers and team members to gather requirements and understand project objectives.
• Support database management tasks, including data retrieval and manipulation using [specific database technology, e.g., DB2].
• Participate in troubleshooting and debugging of applications to resolve issues.
• Contribute to code reviews and receive feedback to improve programming skills.
• Write and maintain technical documentation for applications and systems.
• Help with system testing and user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Stay updated with new technologies and best practices in software development.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 2- 8 years of experience in COBOL programming and AS400 development.
• Strong knowledge of database management systems, particularly [specific technologies like DB2].
• Proven experience with application development life cycle methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.).
• Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills for complex AS400 applications.
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities with excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with modernizing legacy systems and migrating applications to new platforms.
• Familiarity with web services, APIs, or integration techniques.
• Knowledge of additional programming languages or technologies (e.g., RPG, CL programming) is a plus.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN).
